OUR JOURNEY OUR PURPOSE OUR WORK

It’s about time we spoke for ourselves.

An organic movement during a global pandemic, by young Ontarians.

Young Ontarians United was originally formed as a small project in response to an urgent need to amplify young people’s experiences with the global pandemic.

What started out as a small youth-led project quickly transformed into a grassroots provincial movement for change, demanding that young people be at the table, through our own research and innovation.

About to publish Ontario’s first-ever youth-led research report, considerate of the holistic youth experience, across diverse intersectional lenses, we thought it might be a good idea to keep this work going. We want to keep amplifying young voices — for ourselves, by ourselves.

Youth-led change-making through youth-led research.

Today, ours is Ontario’s first-ever youth-led and youth-built research organization is devoted to studying, prioritizing and amplifying the youth experience.

It focuses on linking the lived experiences and informed voices of young people to the decisions that are often made without them but directly impacting them.

The lack of young people’s insights informing these decisions made by both government and community can almost always be traced back to when these decisions fail or negatively impact the young people they were intended to help.

This gap of youth voice in decision-making needs to be bridged.

We are that bridge. We amplify that voice.
